brief outline

These web pages briefly outline the book entitled "Handbook of Mathematics" published in 2015. The reasons for this book are numerous, one is to reconnect with the tradition of handbooks; another is to give the proof of theorems.

The book consists of 11 Parts and 28 Chapters covering all areas of mathematics.

It is a tool for readers who have to deal with mathematics, for students, scientists, students of many disciplines, engineers, teachers, professionals, writers and also for a general reader with an interest in mathematics and in science, as well as for beginners.

It provides a wide range of mathematical concepts, definitions, propositions, theorems, proofs, and numerous illustrations. Difficulty level can vary depending on chapters, and sustained attention will be required for some.

The list of Parts is quite classical:
I. Foundations of Mathematics,
II. Algebra,
III. Number Theory,
IV. Geometry,
V. Analytic Geometry,
VI. Topology,
VII. Algebraic Topology,
VIII. Analysis,
IX. Category Theory,
X. Probability and Statistics,
XI. Applied Mathematics,
Appendices, index.

Appendices provide useful lists of symbols and tables for ready reference.

A vast index consistently lists all the notions described and defined throughout the book.

The hope of the publisher and of the author is that this book, made in a large format, will serve the needs of readers, their studies, explorations, work, or researches.
